Chase It. But You Can Never Catch It.

Monk Mindset for Living Well

Monk Mindset 6

Seek Nothing to Find Everything: Detachment

Reflection on the Monk Mindset & Quote

I’ve often chased success, achievement, and pleasure in my life. These were my go-to means for filling the void within.

But this never really satisfied me. At some point, I realized I would never be the smartest or the best. It was a game I could win for a while but ultimately always lost.

All of us chase something -- whether it’s attention, acclaim, success, pleasure, money, titles, experience, and so on. But there’s never enough of these. So it’s really a dead end to even start chasing them.

Yet, still we chase them. Why?

Naming what we chase and then doing the hard work of letting go of it is the only real path to peace, joy and love.

So, what do you chase and what would you give to not chase it?

Put It Into Practice This Week

Name the one thing that you “chase” to fill the emptiness within.

Right now for 10 seconds. Close your eyes and ask God for the help to let go of it.
